My full name is Valentina Vetencourt and I am the
Elementary ESE teacher. Most of the students know me as
Mrs. V. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and lived there
until December of 1999. After I finished high school I
enrolled at the Instituto Universitario Jean Piaget,
where I got a Technical Degree in Special Education,
which is a three years intensive program. There I
was given the opportunity to complete a two year
internship at a rural school. I learned a lot
through this experience working with kids with learning
difficulties and with minimal learning resources. My
first job as a teacher was at a bilingual school for
boys called Instituto Cumbres of Caracas. I worked
there as a 3rd and 4th grade English teacher for
two years. Then I decided to move to Florida to complete
my degree in Special Education at Florida International
University, where I graduated in the spring of 2002.
I started to work at Somerset Academy August 2002 and
became part of the ESE (Exceptional Student Education)
team. These will be my seventh year!
