I am Rita Vazquez and have been teaching for 25 years
nationally and internationally. I moved to Florida in
1993 after living and teaching in Mexico for two years.
I have taught in Brazil, as well as New York and New
Jersey.
Teaching in both the United States and
internationally has enabled me to adapt various
techniques to teach the diverse students of South
Florida.
I was born and educated in New York. I received my
Bachelor’s Degree in history and early childhood
education from SUNY at New Paltz and a Master’s Degree
in elementary education specialization in reading
disabilities from Wagner College. I have a
teaching certificate in Elementary Education
specializing in Early Childhood Education from the State
of New York and also hold a Florida Teaching Certificate
in elementary education.
Each August I start the year reinforcing social
skills, citizenship, and reviewing academics from the
previous year. Emphasizing student achievements
and positive interaction between students and teacher
makes a classroom where learning and fun go hand in
hand.
Students will be responsible for growing academically
by discovering, processing, and applying information in
order to become successful learners and citizens.
I have been active in many extra curricular
activities such as planning and fundraising for field
trips, school dances, math club, yearbook, G.R.A.D.E.,
A.Y.S.O. soccer and girl scouts.
This is my third year at Somerset Academy. I am
excited to begin a new year in my professional life at
Somerset Academy and look forward to be working and
learning with the students and faculty. Making a
challenging, fun environment, with commitment to a
learning community to impact your child’s live is my
goal!
