Teaching wasn’t something I had always dreamed of doing,
but now that I am a teacher I wouldn’t dream of doing
ANYTHING else. For the first time in my life, I love to
come to work. I joined the Somerset Academy Family last
year and was delighted to return this year to teach math
and science, two subjects that fascinate me.
I grew up in
Plantation, FL and graduated from Florida Atlantic
University with a degree in Business Management in 2003.
I took a two year sabbatical from college to pursue an
itch to travel and became a Delta Flight Attendant. As
exciting as the career was, nothing could diffuse my
fear of flying after 9/11. I made the decision to leave
the profession and went home to marry my high school
sweetheart. My daughter, Kaitlyn, was born in June 2005
and I am expecting a baby boy in October.
I have been busy preparing for this school year,
enjoying family life, and studying for my Masters degree
in Teaching and Learning at Nova Southeastern
University. I will be taking a short maternity leave
from October to December, but I will be leaving your
children in the best of hands. Ms. Smith, whom most of
you are very familiar with and fond of, will be
returning to Somerset Academy as my substitute. She will
also be launching her afterschool enrichment program,
Brilliant Minds. We both look forward to having an
amazing year with the help of your remarkable children.
