My name is
Ana Portela. I
graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education. I am State
Certified and ESOL endorsed. I am Married and have two
wonderful boys (a 4 year old and a 1 year old). I joined
the Somerset team in 2001 as a teacher’s assistant and a
substitute teacher. The wonderful experiences that I
attained have helped me develop as an educator.
As
Somerset has grown, I have also grown. I have taught
2nd grade for 6 years and truly love
what I do. I believe that a well-rounded education
begins with a solid academic foundation. This is
what we offer at Somerset Academy.
In my classroom, I
recognize the need for structure, yet it remains a
supportive and encouraging environment. I believe
that students need the opportunity for enrichment
and academic challenge, therefore, my goal is to
develop a student’s full potential.
